In this, the final episode of the Audio Diary for 2017, I'd like to share with you a few snippets from one of the most insightful conversations I had this year. On that strange day when Storm Ophelia brought an eerie, orange sky to London I met with Timothy Han to discuss scent & multi-sensory experiences. but left with a deep appreciation for his method of reappraising a common experience: that of encountering fragrance beyond the bottle.
A one-time assistant to John Galliano, Timothy also developed a sustainable candle collection before developing the Edition Perfumes line which he crafts with ease in this crazy London space, which, let’s be honest, is cold, wet, drab, and can be so depressing when you’re trying to create iconoclastic work.
I sought him out because of his nose, or rather, because of his knack for isolating and translating unusual scents like city streets in the summer or dying flowers into the kind of distinctive scents you either love to death, or you hate. Then, there are the actual fragrances Timothy makes, which oscillate back and forth between pungent notes and delicate undertones, before harmonizing into a collection of intoxicating scents.
Listen above to the thoughts and conversations in EP. 06 of The Audio Diary.
Let's reappraise the common, and have a fantastic 2018 together.
